Wyshinski makes the comeback of the year!
CARLEY MILLS
This year Frankie Wyshinski made a total comeback after being unable to play sport for two years due to endless concussions. In December, he was granted an early Christmas present from his parents. His parents presented him with a note from his doctor stating he was cleared and could once again participate in sports. This means he would finally be able to follow up with his long lost wrestling career. After 2 long years of training and conditioning himself he was more than ready to begin this season. Frankie was eager for the wrestling season to begin as he had many goals set for himself.
One of the goals he set was to win the district 31 championship, and he did! Frankie Wyshinski won the district 31 title at 195 pounds. His parents, teammates, coaches, friends and family were more than proud of his accomplishment and comeback. The Pennsville community is overwhelmed with pride and welcomed the recognition in the wrestling community. Go Eagles!!!

Rieger reaches the big 1,000!
Brianna pratz
Colin Rieger reached his goal of scoring 1,000 points in one season during the home game against Wildwood, Colin was eleven points away from reaching that goal. The team won the game and Colin’s goal was achieved. He has ended his last high school basketball season with an astounding accomplishment.
“I just do what I have to do. Anything to help our team win,” states Colin. Colin’s mindset of just doing his best is a quality that helped his team accomplish what they did this season. Colin’s accomplishment is something that will follow him throughout life, not just as a 1,000 point winner, but all of the life lessons that are learned while participating in a sports team.

pennsvillevs.Hadden girls soccer
Madison Chambers
Mid afternoon on Friday, Pennsville girls soccer lost to Hadden Township in the quarter finals, with an unfortunate 1-2 score.
The girls played a close game, scoring only one goal each during the regulated time. After a scoreless first half, Megan Morrison scored to make Pennsville lead. However, only shortly afterwards, Kim Gaskill scored to tie the game.
Ending the regulated time at 1-1, each team went into overtime with the same mind set, score a goal. But, only one team made that happen. Gaskill scored during overtime making the score now 2-1 in Hadden's favor. With an upsetting ending, Pennsville was knocked out of the playoffs, early in the quarterfinals.
Leading up the game Pennsville was favored over Hadden though. Being the top seed, Pennsville was expected to beat Hadden easily and advance on. With 16 shots on goal, more than Hadden, it's safe to say Pennsville was dominating, but simply couldn't finish.
The game ended in an upset for Pennsville, but a victory for Hadden township, knocking Pennsville early out of the play offs, in only the quarterfinals.

Lexi slusher
serena Kirca
This weeks student athlete spotlight is on Pennsville's very own Lexi Slusher. Slusher is in her junior year and already has 30 goals to her name. When asked about her goal recognition, "how does it feel to be known as the girl on the varsity team with the most goals"? Slusher tells us,
"it feels really good to have people recognizing and keeping up with how many goals I have. Also the team is doing really well this season so that's always good".
Also when asked, "do you have a favorite goal from this season?".
Her response, "the one against pitman, the one when we won 1-0 and it was all me".
And it was truly all you Ms. Slusher!
Make sure you congratulate Lexi Slusher in the hallway! Keep up the good work!

jv football clayton vs. pennsville

Tuesday, September 15th, the Pennsville JV and Clayton JV Football teams faced each other in Clayton. Pennsville's varsity team played Clayton's varsity team the week before and won 55 to 18, each Friday night Varsity Game is followed by a Monday night JV game of the same teams played.
The first half of the game the Eagles offense struggled getting in the end zone but Nick Bard, #22 the JV running back, could get the ball up the field but every time we failed to get it into the end zone . At the end of the half the score stood Pennsville-0 Clayton-12
In the second half however, the first drive the Eagles offense got the ball down the field and threw it in for a touchdown and ran it in for the extra two points . But, the Eagles defense couldn't keep the receiver contained when the Eagles kick-off team kicked it off an he ended up taking it to the house for a third touchdown for Clayton. Then , the Eagles offense failed to get it up the field an first play on the other side of the ball they ran it on the outside for a touchdown.
After, that happened it just went all down hill from there an the Eagles lost hope but I think from the start the Eagles weren't just prepared . The final score was Pennsville-8 and Clayton-28 .

first home football game of 2014

On September 12th, Lou D’Angelo Stadium hosted its first home football game of the season and defeated the Clayton Clippers 55-8. The Pennsville Eagles are a well rounded football team this year.
They have become better over the years and have been fortunate enough to pick up more players each year. The game against Clayton was a big victory for the Eagles. They needed to start off the year with a win and they did.
“If you make a mistake your team is there to pick you up, because it’s a team sport” states senior Kyle Craner, wide receiver for the Pennsville Eagles.
This week Pennsville faces Schallick for the first time in 3 years.
